Eight tessellating apartments built from in-situ concrete, arranged over half levels, incorporating the Solidspace DNA, generating a double height void, with more light, volume and character. The site is under construction with completion in 2017.

WESTON STREET Weston Street, located in the heart of Bermondsey, is the latest Solidspace project. For over 10 years, Solidspace has been working on this scheme with architect Simon Allford, co-founder of AHMM, the practice that won the RIBA Stirling Prize 2015, the highest architectural accolade. The scheme comprises eight tessellating apartments, facing South over the neighbouring park and conservation area. They are all two or three bedrooms laid out over half levels. Despite _the long gestation period,_ says Allford, _still Weston Street evolves_, as it responds to the local environment of this part of historic London. Like the nearby Shard, the building has a minimalist, modern aesthetic, while the bricks reference the surrounding historic warehouses, and the aluminium window frames reproduce the elegance of the vernacular crittall windows. Like Solidspace, AHMM aim to _innovate because we know that innovation is as much about finding simpler ways of doing things better as it is about finding new things to do_. Both practices master elegance and sophistication through simplicity and this subtlety informs the design of Weston Street. Were Weston Street a brand, says Allford, it would be Savile Row: _historically nuanced, elegant, of its time yet timeless, bespoke yet universal. It will last beyond a lifetime and be necessarily adaptable to many owners. Estimated completion 2017. www.westonstreet.co.uk
